Tips for great portraits!

Here are a few things to keep in mind when preparing for your portraits session.

Clothing :

Shirts - Dark colored (jewel tones can be very flattering) shirts keep the focus where it should be.... your face. Patterns, stripes, and bright colors can be particularly distracting. Bare arms can also draw the attention away from your face. If you have a group of people being photographed, they don't need to match exactly. By following the suggestions above, a beautiful family or group photo can be created.

Pants - There is bit more leeway on this item. Jeans, khakis, or dark slacks work well and help by not making the photo feel too "dated".

Outfit changes - Feel free to bring several additional outfits to your session, just keep in mind that you may have to do your changing in the car if there is no suitable facility nearby. If there is something in particular you have in mind, let me know. I am always open to trying some shots that might not be completely "traditional".

Make-up & Hair : The biggest thing to keep in mind is, "If I look back at this photo 10 years from now, will I be embarassed?". *It may sound silly, but the outfit that looks so cute today may not look so great up on your wall in a frame ten years from now.

* These are, of course, merely "suggestions". They are your photos, they should reflect you and your personality! :)
